~THE ABC OF HTML~

A short time ago, I would not even have known how to begin creating a web page. Then I discovered that, at many free site providers, you could create a page without knowing more than how to point, click and use a keyboard, and I gave it a go. I was limited to certain page structures and had to build all of my pages online, but that was fine by me, since I thought I wouldn't have a hope in hell of learning HTML!

After a few weeks spending ages on the net building my pages or, when offline, using MS Word's web page wizard to do the job (which has a mind of its own when it comes to HTML!), I started wondering how hard it could be to build simple pages by writing them directly in HTML using Windows basic Notepad program.

The reality is that the basics of HTML are unbelievably easy to pick up. Spend a few minutes reading through the guide below and that's all you need to know to get started. Once you have mastered the fundamental ideas, you can start to climb the dizzy heights! There are innumerable sites dedicated to more advanced HTML, a few of which I have linked to on my website building links page. But enough of that for now! Remember, no matter how ornate a page looks, its foundations are the same as any other. Once you learn the basic building blocks of HTML, you can create anything you want!
