~MANIC STREET PREACHERS~ For the benefit of the few who have not yet heard of them, the Manic Street Preachers are the best band around. The Welsh rock group consists, since the disappearance of Richey Edwards in February 1995, of James Dean Bradfield (lead vocals & guitar), Nicky Wire (bass), & Sean Moore (drums). Nicky writes the lyrics, while James & Sean compose all the music. To date, they have released 5 albums: Generation Terrorists (1992), Gold Against The Soul (1993), The Holy Bible (1994), Everything Must Go (1996) & This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours (1998). Their 2 latest efforts were both nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize. The band have an ever expanding fervent fan base, as can be appreciated from the innumerable websites that pay homage to this truly great band. The commitment, intelligence and intense feeling of many fans are captured on these pages. I have included a few on my links page. This corner of my website is not in any way comparable to those sites. All you will find here are a few lyrics in addition to brief profiles of each member. Far from being an obsessive fan, I am simply someone who, in the last year or so, has grown to love their music. Yes, I make no apologies for being a "new" fan ( i can feel the hate mail coming already!). I know I am almost alone in thinking that "This Is My Truth Tell Me yours" is a brilliant album, although I do prefer "Everything Must Go". I have not yet got into the earlier stuff. From what I have heard, I think I far prefer the later material. I find it extremely sad that many music fans look down on others because what they listen to is too mainstream or because they were not there right from the start. A little tolerance would go a long way! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the few bits and pieces that are gathered here! If you crave more information , in addition to the zillions of websites out there, I can highly recommend Simon Price's biography "Everything" (Virgin, 1999), which does indeed cover just about everything in the band's history and includes exclusive pictures and the most comprehensive discography to date. As a recent convert I obviously had much to learn about the early days, but I believe even the most knowledgeable of fans will find it a fascinating insight into the members' lives and what made the Manics the band they are today.
