~PADDINGTON BEAR~ ![]() Since the original Paddington book by Michael Bond, "A Bear Called Paddington", was first published in 1958, millions around the world, both young and old, have fallen in love with this little bear. The classic story book tells the tale of a bear from darkest Peru who, when his Great Aunt Lucy is unable to look after him, is sent to London, England. He is found in Paddington Station by the Brown Family, sitting on his suitcase with a tag around his neck saying "Please look after this BEAR. Thank You." They take him home and he quickly becomes part of the family. Paddington has come a long way since then. He has become famous worldwide thanks to Michael Bond's numerous books and for many years has starred in his own show. From teddy bears to pencil cases, there is a whole range of merchandise available to collect, so that everyone can have a little reminder of Paddington to treasure forever. From my own experience in Ireland, unfortunately very little is available in the shops, but Paddington has his own special place in Paddington Station and The Official Paddington Bear Website offers a mail order service. You will find links to other Paddington sites on my links page. The Teddybear NL site pages, where I got my pictures from, deserves a special mention. Sadly, considering his immense popularity, there are not many websites dedicated to Paddington and little information around. Of course I could just be looking in the wrong places! :o) So, if you have any information or know of any other websites I would love to hear from you! |
